He grew up in Maryland, and drove to California to pursue an illustration BA from California College of the Arts. Nigel’s current work is intricate and whimsical and reflects his love for food, animals, music, and the complexity of elaborate machines and environments.
Though primarily expressed with micron pens on paper, or acrylic paints on canvas, Nigel increasingly uses digital tools to enhance and display his work. He draws almost every day in an always identical 7×10″ wire-bound sketchbook, and documenting the best of the book in his blog which has grown to 800+ images since he it started in 2008. Nigel lives and works in the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco with his wife Yasemin.
